MARGAO: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Monday reportedly told activists that the government was not averse to extending the deadline for filing of suggestions in respect with the notified Regional Plan-2021 (RP-2021).
The Chief Minister’s reported assurance assumes significance in the backdrop of popular demand from across the state for extension of the deadline which is set for expiry on December 31.
When the activists led by Judith Almeida questioned the Chief Minister over the short time given by government for the people to file their suggestions and objections to the RP 21, the Chief Minister said, "If the people of Goa are seeking extension of the time frame, the government will give additional time,” according to Judith.
While welcoming the Chief Minister’s assurance, Judith, however, wondered whether any purpose would be served if the government extended the deadline, saying that the entire exercise will not achieve anything unless the government puts in place a data base.
