Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) on Tuesday carried out an inspection of a shed at Sada bus-stop junction.

According to sources, the inspection was carried out on the directives of Deputy Collector who reportedly had received a complaint from the police inspector of Mormugao PS stating that several illegal activities were suspected to be taking place at this controversial shed.

The municipal engineer along with the staff inspected this controversial structure at Headland- Sadanext to a Sulabh toilet complex.

However, there was a dispute over the ownership of the land and the jurisdiction of MMC.

The municipal engineer along with the municipal staff, however, inspected the shed which is in existence for many years. The staff measured the area during the inspection.

When contacted, MMC Chief Officer Gaurish Shankhwalkar admitted that an inspection of the shed was carried out and that the property ownership will be verified which is likely to be of MPT or NHAI.

Sources in the MMC added that after the property verification, further directives would be given to the owners to dismantle the shed after use during social and cultural functions.

Sankhwalkar informed that the inspection was conducted on the direction of the Deputy Collector Mormugao, who received a complaint from the Mormugao PI stating that several illegal activities were suspected to be taking place at this controversial shed.

The recent assault case registered at the Mormugao police station on late Sunday night is also reported to have taken place near the shed.
