The Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) has issued a trade notice for restriction of port operations in view of the study underway regarding impact of coal handling at the mooring dolphins on the environment.

According to sources, the Port has directed unberthing of all vessels discharging cargo at the mooring dolphins and shifting them to West of Breakwater (Anchorage).

Similarly, no dry cargo is being handled at Berths 10 & 11. Delivery of cargo and vehicular movement at Gate 9 has been stopped during this period.

The MPT has stated that the trade notice is issued in view of “extraordinary circumstances considering the long term business interests of the port and port community”, and has sought support and co-operation of port users.
