The aggrieved depositors of Mapusa Urban Cooperative Bank (MUCB) have filed an FIR against the MUCB managerial staff with the Panaji police station and have lodged a complaint with the Economic Offences Cell at Altinho, Panaji.
Aggrieved depositors have also sent a memorandum to Union Minister of Finance, Nirmala Sitharaman explaining the mismanagement of MUCB resulting in the agony and misery inflicted on them.
The aggrieved depositors have requested the Finance Minister not to allow any application from the MUCB for cancellation of the banking licence from the RBI for deregistering from the Central Registrar of Co-operative Societies, New Delhi until and unless, the grievances concerning the deposits of the customers are settled in full.
The depositors have demanded with RBI to supersede the Board of Directors of the Banking Company in public interest under Section 36ACA of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
The depositors have alleged that the chairman, vice chairman, board of directors, and general manager, are solely responsible for the bad loans dished out by circumventing procedures and MUCB unable to recover the same due to obvious reasons.
There are around 3 lakh people whose around Rs 340 crore deposits is held with MUCB spread over in 24 branches throughout Goa.
Even matured deposits are not being given to the people.
The RBI has recently further extended the embargo on MUCB to February 18, 2020 and the innocent depositors are forced upon to undergo tremendous hardships leading to disruption of their normal family lives and health.
