MARGAO
Crime never pays, so goes the good old adage. A 35-year-old man from Bijapur, who had done to death his mother’s alleged paramour at Aquem and buried him in a storeroom was nabbed by the Margao police 10 years after he had committed the cold-blooded murder.
Solving the mystery behind the skeletal remains that were unearthed from a storeroom (out house) behind a bungalow on Saturday, the Margao police nabbed Parshuram Doranahalli from Kunoor for the murder of Bhimsen Kodgagnoor (45) and later burying his body in the toilet-cum-bathroom of the outhouse. Giving details of the incident, Margao police station in-charge PI Kapil Nayak informed that the deceased Bhimsen was having a relationship with the mother of the accused. The mother is believed to have later committed suicide in her native village soon after the murder incident, he added.
“The accused has allegedly confessed that he had assaulted Bhimsen and strangulated him to death with his hands since he used to harass and assault his mother Renuka under the influence of liquor. To destroy evidence, the accused later buried Bhimsen’s body in the toilet-cum-bathroom,” PI Kapil said. After the skeletal remains were unearthed from the storeroom at Aquem on Saturday evening, the Margao police received a clue from a native of Bijapur, Irrappa, who explained that the family were staying at the storeroom around
June 2008 when the deceased had suddenly gone missing.
“Renuka had told Irrappa that Bhimsen had left for his home town in Bijapur, but was never found there. In the meantime, Renuka along with his son Parshuram and two daughters, had also left the storeroom to head home to Bijapur after the incident. Our investigations have revealed that Renuka had committed suicide soon thereafter,” PI Kapil added.
To a question, he said the accused Parshuram was nabbed by the police team headed by PI Suraj Gauns at Kunoor after investigations by the team revealed that the accused was now settled at Kunoor.
The South Goa police chief, SP Arvind Gawas has complimented the Margao police team for achieving a breakthrough in the
case. The team has been rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 5000.
