Getting into the election mode, Panchayat Minister, Mauvin Godinho on Monday said the nation needed a strong leader like Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has to be given another term.

“We have got a strong leader in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has to get elected again for next five years to run the country and only then our Bharat will be a super power. Earlier when we spoke of India people looked the other way. But today every one wants to shake hands with India. This is what Modi has done to India,” Godinho said.

The panchayat minister was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a market complex and panchayat office in Assonora in the presence of Assonora Sarpanch, Sapna Mapari, former Tivim MLA, Kiran Kandolkar and other panch members.

Local MLA, Nilkant Halarnkar, was conspicuous by his absence.

Continuing, Godinho said Modi has shown the whole world that if people of India were attacked without valid reason then India will chase the enemy country inside its territory and finish them.

“We have as much capacity as the United States…We have shown it…,” the panchayat minister said.

He said with Modi as the PM the leadership of the country was in good hands. “People will flourish and poor people will get schemes,” he said.

He further said that Union Minister of State for AYUSH, Shripad Naik has done a lot of work in the State and such good leaders should be brought to power again.

Godinho disclosed that he has inaugurated at least 25 projects since the government was sworn-in and laid 25 foundation stones for similar projects.

“This government has done so much work in Goa. This government has not only laid foundation stones and done inaugurations but people have got opportunity to use them in the State. There is so much difference between previous and this government,” he said.

“In previous governments whenever such foundation stones were laid there were doubts whether the projects will be completed or not,” he added taunting the Opposition. He said the Opposition was complaining that no work was happening in the State.

“Everybody knows that our CM is unwell but that has not stalled the development work. Other ministers are doing their job. Under his leadership we are all working,” he said.

He acknowledged that State suffered a setback due to closure of mining.

“But mining has been shut by the Supreme Court and the government is still trying to resolve the issue,” he averred.
