The contractors of MVR Infra Pvt Ltd engaged in the ongoing expansion of NH66 have damaged a water pipeline yet again, resulting in no water supply to Colvale and surrounding areas for the last two days.
Interestingly, the 150 mm pipeline has been damaged at three different places along Karraswaddo, disrupting the supply and also resulting in wastage of water.
An eyewitness told The Goan that the contractors engaged in widening the national highway have been working at top speed, resulting in the rupture of the pipeline.
The pipeline has been reportedly damaged at three spots -- near Sattadhar complex, close to the petrol pump and near the WRD office at Karraswaddo.
Residents of Ghotnicho Val and Colvale have been affected as they received no supply for the last two days.
"The repair work has been taking up but the work has still not been completed as it was going on at a slow pace," locals alleged.
Tivim MLA Nilkant Harlankar rushed to the area and requested the engineers to expedite the work on a war footing.
“People in Colvale have not received water for the last two days. Residents contacted me. I have informed the engineers to complete the work at the earliest. No one can be deprived of water which is a basic necessity,” Harlankar said.
The NH66 expansion work witnessed innumerable damage to water pipelines resulting in disruption of water supply.
