VASCO
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Luizinho Faleiro on Sunday directed Congress leaders to either “do or die” in the forthcoming assembly election.
Addressing the Vasco Block Mahila meet, Faleiro urged the Congress workers to go house to house and listen to the problems and views of the people.
“People are the masters and there is a need for Congress leaders and workers to go house to house and listen to the voices, aspirations and difficulties of the people and try to solve them,” he said.
“Congress lost the power and lost it miserably, and the vacuum created by Congress is filled by BJP with tall false promises,” added Faleiro.
“We committed mistakes, no doubt about it, but BJP capitalized on our mistakes and made tall false promises and after winning the confidence of the people, BJP started making 'U-turns' and betrayed the voters who had elected them to power,” he said.
Speaking on the organization, Faleiro said when he took over, all the organizational fronts were dissolved and were non-functioning. “Within a span of 18 months, I rebuilt all the organizational fronts, including the constituency-wise blocks, and even established 16 cells,” informed Faleiro.
“There is no magic wand, but there is a magic formula, and that is unity, discipline, consolidation and strengthening of the organization.”
Speaking on mahagatbandan, Faleiro said he is in favour of an alliance, not with other parties, but rather within the leaders of the Congress party.
“In some constituencies, there are more names figuring in the list to contest the next assembly election. I want these leaders to be united, and once the party declares the candidates, I want the leaders to support and work for their victory.”
Faleiro added that the Congress party is on a level playing field and some senior party leaders even tried to sabotage his every effort by talking about gatbandan.
“It is an attempt to weaken the party, and my roadmap is very clear, that is to build the party organisation and win the next assembly election,” he said.
Former South Goa MP Francis Sardinha, ex-chief minister Ravi Naik, Leader of Opposition Pratapsing Rane, Vasco Block president Vishal Naik and other Congress leaders also spoke on the occasion.

Cong to field own candidate in Vasco
THE GOAN NETWORK
VASCO: Stating that Congress will not go for coalition, GPCC president Luizinho Faleiro said the party will field its own candidate from Vasco for the 2017 assembly election.
Speaking at Vasco Congress Block Mahila meet, he said for last several years, the Congress workers were working for other party candidates and getting them elected. “This time, we have built the party's frontal organization from the grassroot level, and we will listen to the voices of our party workers and have our own candidate,” he added.
Vasco Block Congress president Vishal Naik said the Congress party is capable of contesting the seat in Vasco. “We are capable of winning the seat, the presence of women at the function shows that the 'Mahila shakti' will definitely help Congress in winning the Vasco constituency seat,” said Naik.
