Raising the issue of inferior quality of equipment installed in the children’s park, Satish Govekar said it appeared that the equipment wouldn’t last for long.
“The equipment looks of very low quality and may not even last for six months. An inquiry should be conducted in the substandard work carried out in the park,” Govekar said.
The park was recently renovated at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh under the Golden Jubilee fund through the Art & Culture department.
Sarpanch Govind Govekar informed that all the works in the park was carried out by the contractor. He further said the BDO did not allow any changes in the plan.
The gram sabha member further said if the work was proved to be substandard, then the contractor should be blacklisted and the deposit amount should not be released to the contractor.
Panchayat Secretary, Cliffton Azavedo informed that the objection will be recorded and experts deputed by the government will decide on the said work.
Gopikant Shirodkar informed the gram sabha that a former PWD engineer had recommended building a sump near the overhead tank to mitigate the water problem in the village.
“There is large area near the overhead tank. If an underground tank is built near the overhead tank the water from the tank can then be pumped to the overhead tank. This will alleviate the water problem with minimal cost,” Shirodkar said.
The sarpanch said the panchayat will take the member’s suggestion into consideration.
Other suggestions were cleaning roadside drains of garbage before the monsoon, proposal to set up an enclosure of iron mesh to store dry garbage and building of additional public toilets in the village to end the issue of open defecation in the village.
