“As 87 per cent of the notes in circulation were of higher denominations, the Central government was forced to take the step of demonetisation. This measure was necessary to strengthen the economy,” said Naidu while speaking at the meeting organized by BJP, basically for South Indian communities, at Porvorim.
Naidu further said for the progress of the nation, support to the state governments is of paramount importance. “If central government and state governments work together, then the progress of the states as well as nation can be achieved speedily,” he added.
“Reform, perform and transform are the three mantras of the Modi government. Hidutva is the cultural identity of the country. The philosophy of BJP is that all Indians are equal and BJP aims at prosperity of all sections of the society,” said Naidu.
“During the Congress rule at the Centre, in all 26 scams took place, due to which the Indian economy suffered a severe setback. However, with the introduction of several measures, the inflation has now dropped to 3.6 percent.”
“Corruption has been reduced substantially and price rise of essential commodities is under control. The progress of the nation is taking place speedily,” he said.
“In Goa, the Centre has provided a lot of funds for major projects like Zuari bridge, widening of roads, Mopa airport, etc. Once these projects are completed, the development of Goa would take place speedily,” said Naidu.
Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar said out of 55 years, BJP was in power for 9 years in Goa and 85 per cent of the development of Goa has taken place during the BJP rule. “Inspite of closure of mining activities, BJP fulfilled most of the assurances given during the 2012 elections and implemented all the social schemes launched by BJP,” he said.
BJP candidate for Porvorim Guruprasad Pawaskar welcomed the gathering and Kishor Assnodkar proposed the vote of thanks.
