VALPOI
Upset over continuous water shortage, a group of angry locals from Naneli in Sattari on Monday marched to the PWD office in Valpoi and protested at the site.
Accusing the water supply officials of failing to resolve the water shortage issues since the last one year, the locals have threatened to stage a large-scale protest within eight days.
Speaking to reporters, the locals complained that Naneli has been facing water shortage since the last one year and despite repeated complaints to the PWD office, the issue has not been resolved.
“The PWD has been sending a tanker to supply water, but this is not sufficient to cater to the needs of the village,” complained a local, Sukanti Gaonkar.
Another local, Leena Gaonkar, alleged irregularities in the supply of water to the village.
“The operator has been supplying only one pot of water which is insufficient for each family,” she said.
“PWD officials have been assuring 24-hour water supply in the State, but their claims have no meaning given the acute water shortage in our Naneli village,” she added.
