The driver and a passenger in a jeep were lucky to escape with minor injuries after a bison rammed into their jeep on the Bicholim-Kudchirem road on Saturday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the jeep was travelling from Kudchirem to Bicholim when the bison suddenly appeared on the road and suddenly struck the oncoming jeep. The driver lost control and the jeep veered off the road. The two occupants were shaken but were, however, fortunate to escape with minor injuries. The bison fled immediately after the incident.
A team from the Bicholim police and the forest department team went to the site to conduct an investigation.
The region is known for frequent sightings of bison and similar accidents have been reported in the past. Authorities are working to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure the safety of both humans and wildlife.
