Two persons had a narrow escape after a tree fell on their two-wheeler, while incidents of traffic getting disrupted and trees falling were reported in different parts of Bicholim taluka on account of heavy rains on Wednesday.
At Kulan-Bicholim, a large tree got uprooted on the main road and fell on a two-weeler. The two riders, however, had a lucky escape. Traffic was disrupted for one hour as firefighters were at work to clear the fallen tree.
A tree also fell and damaged a portion of the house belonging to Govind Vaingankar from Piligao. A number of houses were flooded in low-lying areas in the taluka.
The weekly market at Bicholim was also affected as vendors could not sell their wares due to incessant rains.
