With the government issuing a red alert on Thursday, the Margao Municipal Council has geared up its men and machinery to meet any eventuality.
Margao Municipal Chairperson Damu Shirodkar informed that the municipality has constituted a squad comprising 40-50 civic labourers to meet any situation on Thursday.
He said a JCB machine, besides vehicles, will be kept standby for an operation if the need arises.
The MMC Chairperson on Wednesday tried to contact the municipal councillors with a plea to report at the Municipal building at around 8 am on Thursday.
“The municipal men and machinery will be mobilised on Thursday morning at the MMC building. I have requested the City Fathers to come to the MMC building at around 8 am on Thursday. We will monitor the situation and accordingly deploy the special squad to meet any situation in the city,” Damu added.
