Navelim deliberates on garbage management

MARGAO
The Navelim gram sabha on Sunday discussed a host of issues, including garbage management, bringing fallow fields under cultivation et al.

At the gram sabha meeting chaired by Sarpanch Lucia Carvalha, members also discussed the issue of illegal food carts operating in the village and fish vendors running business along the roadsides.

Briefing the media after the meeting, former sarpanch Paul Pereira said the members have demanded a stop to the illegal food carts operating in the village. He said members have further demanded that the panchayat insist on food safety from the legal food kiosk.

Paul further informed that the panchayat would soon call for a joint meeting with the Village development committee and the garbage management committee to plan for the garbage management in the coming financial year.

Members complimented the farmers who have brought the fallow fields under cultivation at the Salpem lake, even as the members made a fervent plea to bring all their fallow fields under cultivation.
