PANAJI: Panaji Police on Monday afternoon recovered the body of Mohan Mehta (71) from River Mandovi. Police was on the lookout for Mehta, who had been absconding since the death of his wife, Chandrakala Mehta (61), under suspicious circumstances in Navelim on April 14.
Panaji Police said they had received a call at about 1.20 pm informing them of a body floating near the Ribandar causeway.
The body has been for post-mortem to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim. PSI Aditya Velip is investigating the case.
The police also found a suicide note and cash worth Rs 4001 in a plastic bottle tied to the waist of the deceased. The note was signed as ‘Mohan Mehta’
