MARGAO: Navelim Villagers Union produced a commanding performance to overwhelm St Anthony Club Colva 5-0 and advance to the next round of the St Sebastian UC Benaulim Football Tournament at the St John the Baptist Dando Panchayat Ground.
Navelim asserted their dominance from the opening whistle and were rewarded in the first half through Julius Ferrao, who struck twice to hand his side a comfortable 2-0 lead at the interval.
The youthful Colva outfit showed greater urgency after the restart but struggled to convert possession into meaningful opportunities, with the Navelim defence keeping them at bay.
Navelim tightened their grip on the contest as Travis Souza scored a quickfire brace before Ferrao completed his hat-trick late in the game to wrap up an emphatic victory.
