Navy divers to search for body at Sattari waterfall

VALPOI

Navy divers are expected to launch operations at the Kumthol waterfall in at Savarde-Sattari on Wednesday as the body of one missing youth could not be located on Tuesday.

Two youth from Vasco drowned in the waterfall on Monday evening and the body of one was retrieved on the same day.

On Tuesday, Valpoi firefighters conducted a search operation the entire day but were unable to locate the body of the second youth.

“The firefighters even searched 500 metres away from the site where the youth is believed to have drowned, but were not successful,” said Valpoi Fire Officer Santosh Gawas.

“Navy divers have now been asked to conduct search operations on Wednesday.”

Locals fear that the body of the missing youth could have moved further downstream, given the strong flow of water on account of heavy rains in the last few days
