Nawa Somwar at Bicholim
BICHOLIM: The annual 'Nawa Somwar' festival of Goddess Shantadurga from Bicholim will be celebrated on Monday.
Gramastha Gaonkar Mandal and Bicholim Bazarkar Mandal will celebrate the festival in the premises of Shantadurga Temple at Gaonkarwada-Bicholim and Sri Laxminarayn Shantadurga Mutt Mandir at Atil Peth, Bicholim.
This festival marks the beginning of Palanquin procession of Goddess Shantadurga, which will proceed from Gaonkarwada temple at 9 pm. A programme by child artiste, Prajackta Natu, will be organised at 10 pm, followed by classical singing programme of Sawani Shende Sathe from Pune. Recitals by Mahesh Kale from Pune will be held at Ravalnath temple at 1.30 am.
The palanquin procession at Atil Peth Mutt Mandir will proceed at about 8.30 pm after public prayer and aarti, which will be followed by the dindi procession.
Singing programme of Chaitanya Kulkarni and Saili Panse from Mumbai will be held at Mutt premises and Gurufund Trust hall at Bhailipeth-Bicholim at 10 pm and 1.30 am respectively. They will be accompanied by Vithal Khandolkar, Rahul Khandolkar and Vishant Surlakar on harmonium, tabla and pakhvaz.
