Narcotics Control Bureau, Mumbai raided two spots in Mumbai and North Goa within 12 hours seizing a massive haul of synthetic drugs and arresting two accused persons.
The seized narcotics include 58 grams of amphetamine, 15 blots of LSD, cocaine, mephedrone and heroine in intermediate quantity and 59 tablets of ecstasy or MDMA.
The raid in North Goa was conducted at Negi Café, opposite Arambol Beach where the commercial qualities of amphetamine and LSD and intermediate quantities of cocaine, mephedrone, heroin and ecstasy or MDMA were seized. NCB said that the drug syndicate was allegedly run by a suspect named Mustafa alias Tiger, a Nigerian national who is currently absconding. Efforts are underway to nab him.
NCB arrested the caretaker of Negi Cafe, Ranbir Singh while the owner of the cafe has been summoned for investigation.
During the second operation in Mumbai, NCB intercepted accused Irfan Ansari (24) at Lokhandwala Circle, Andheri (W) and seized 56 tablets of ecstasy or MDMA.
Drug trafficker who escaped
from Colvale jail held in HP
PANAJI: The Crime Branch of Goa Police successfully arrested drug trafficker Hemraj Bharadwaj who had escaped from Colvale jail last year. The undertrial accused was lodged at Colvale Jail under judicial custody for trafficking commercial quantities of charas in Pernem in 2020. He was tracked across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and was finally apprehended in Himachal Pradesh.
Crime Branch team travelled to Chandigarh, where with the logistical assistance of Chandigarh Police under Chandigarh ASP Shruti Arora, the accused was apprehended from his village, Pattidhar in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.
Upon interrogation, Bharadwaj revealed that he had escaped from Colvale jail on August 25, 2020 after carefully monitoring the routine of disposing garbage from the prison. He saw the opportunity to visit his hometown during the ongoing pandemic.
