Stating that the lockdown won't affect completion of projects in Canacona, Deputy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes also said he would not tolerate any compromise on quality of work.
He was addressing a small gathering during the launch of hotmixing works worth Rs 2.85 crore at Gaondongrim on Thursday.
After taking all Covid related precautions and restrictions, PWD began hotmixing works of the 9-km MDR road from Gaondongrim Govt High School to Bhatpal Forest Gate in the presence of Fernandes, ZP member (Poinguinim), Shobhana Velip, Gaondongrim Sarpanch Suman Gaonkar, panch members and village elders.
Asking the contractor to complete the works within the prescribed conditions, Fernandes warned that no compromise would be tolerated on quality of work.
“All the cooperation will be extended to complete the works within the time frame. The lockdown will not affect the work and the ZP member and sarpanch will extend all cooperation,” assured Fernandes.
Earlier, Sarpanch Suman Gaonkar said orders have been obtained for 16 different works worth over Rs 91 lakh, including erecting signboards, repair and tarring of roads.
“Our MLA has already got the long-pending road works to Sainath temple, Barsawada worth Rs 30 lakh and this project will be taken up soon,” said Gaonkar.
