NCP MLA is working for defeat of Pratima, says Congress

MARGAO
The Congress was quick to accuse Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao, saying the NCP MLA has supported the Independent candidate to divide the secular vote and help the BJP win the Navelim seat.

GPCC vice-president Sankalp Amonkar further said that Churchill is working for the defeat of Congress candidate Pratima Coutinho in order to field his family members in the Navelim Assembly election, but exuded confidence that Navelkars will once again reject the Alemaos in Navelim.

Addressing the media, Sankalp said Churchill should have fielded a candidate on the NCP if he had the guts to take on the BJP, saying “by supporting the Independent candidate, Churchill has struck an understanding with the BJP”.

Reiterating the charge that Churchill constitutes the BJP ‘Reserve Force’, Sankalp said the BJP has suddenly brought Churchill on the Navelim ZP playing field after the ruling party realised that the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the Deputy Chief Ministers, Ajgaonkar and Kavlekar hardly made any impact on the Navelim voters.
