Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant’s last minute campaigning in Cuncolim has indeed raised many an eyebrows, with local circles trying to find out whether the CM’s presence was a last ditch attempt by the saffron brigade to wrest control of the Cuncolim civic body in Saturday’s Municipal poll. Indeed, elections for the Cuncolim Municipality seemed to become a matter of prestige for the CM, with brother-in-law Videsh Desai in the fray. The saffron brigade seemed to have realised that it cannot afford to lose Cuncolim. The election also means a lot for Congress-turned-BJP MLA Clafaciobab Dias. Any takers?
A shocker! Churchill now bats for Cipru
Varca strongman Bab Churchill has sprang a surprise, just a day before the Navelim ZP by-poll, by publicly batting for Independent candidate Ciprubab Cardozo. What, however, came as a big surprise was Churchillbab’s announcement that someone from his family will contest the Navelim Assembly election in 2022. Is this the reason why the Benaulim MLA came out to support Ciprubab against the Congress and other candidates? Or is there something more than that meets the eye. Has kumpar Luizinhbab Faleiro anything to say on Churchillbab’s plan in Navelim?
When Sankalp came in defence of Girish
Many an eyebrow was raised in the Congress Saxtti camp when the party leadership roped in Sankalpbab Amonkar, Congress vice-president, based in Vasco, to take on Varca strongman Churchillbab Alemao. Moments after the Benaulim MLA extended his support to Navelim Independent candidate Cipru Cardozo for the Navelim ZP seat and took potshots at Girishbab Chodankar, Sankalpbab was quick to address the media at the South district office. Diggu’s supporters, in particular, wondered why similar urgency was not shown by the party leaders when the Leader of the Opposition came under attack from Congress-turned-BJP leaders. Any questions?
Task for Luizinho? Stop Lotus from blooming
Can Congress veteran Luizinhbab Faleiro stop the Lotus from blooming in his Navelim backyard in the ensuing ZP by-poll. No doubt, a host of Congress leaders descended on the Navelim battlefield in support of candidate Pratimabai Coutinho. Sources, however, say that more than anyone else, one leader who matters in Navelim and can turn the tide against the BJP and ensure Pratimabai’s victory is none other than Luizinhbab. Many say a victory for the Congress in Navelim will mean a lot for the Navelim MLA, more so after the Lotus bloomed in the neighbouring Davorlim ZP seat, part of the Navelim Assembly constituency. Filipe Neri’s absence questioned
Where’s Saxtti lone Minister, Congress-turned-BJP Velim MLA, Filipe Neribab Rodrigues? And, did he hit the campaign trail of BJP ZP candidate Satyavijai Naik for the Navelim ZP by-poll? These and other questions have come to the fore as a host of BJP leaders led by Chief Minister Pramodbab, his deputies Babu Ajgaonkar and Babu Kavlekar, besides party president Sadanandbab Tanavade had descended in Navelim in support of the party candidate. Filipe Neribab’s role in the Navelim ZP seat is all the more important for the saffron brigade given that the two villages of Sarzora and Dramapur-Sirlim comes under his Velim constituency. Wait and watch.
