Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were being drafted the additional duty by the election officials this time round --- to check how many voters, down with Covid symptoms were willing to cast their vote in the December 12 ZP elections.
Armed with the list of Covid patients compiled by the Health Department, the BLOs were directed to approach the Covid positive voters, and find out whether they will be willing to cast their vote in the Saturday poll.
The exercise assumed significance and comes against the backdrop of the decision taken by the election authorities to allow Covid positive patients to cast their vote during the last hour of polling.
Senior officials in the know informed that the authorities will accordingly put the necessary arrangements in place including making available PPE kits at the respective polling stations to facilitate the Covid patients to cast their votes.
