VASCO
Cortalim MLA Anton Vas on Thursday said he had never seen any governor interact with villagers and their elected representatives in the last 32 years of his political career.
Vas was addressing the five panchayats in the Cortalim constituency during the interaction programme with Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai at Kala Bhavan in Sancoale.
"I was first elected panch in 1991, and I went on to be deputy sarpanch and even sarpanch. I also became the ZP on two occasions and finally became the MLA of Cortalim. I have worked in the political field for 32 years, but this is for the first time that I have seen a governor taking a Yatra to complete a visit to all villages in the state and also meet villagers.”
“If that is not enough, the governor has been interacting with panchas," said Vas.
"The governor’s visit has encouraged and motivated newly-elected panchas, some of whom are young and fresh faces. He also advised them on how to serve people without any discrimination.”
“The governor reminded the elected representatives that they have to be dedicated and devoted to people and get their jobs done even if it means keeping family time away for the betterment of society. I appeal to all panchas to adopt the governor’s address and work selflessly for the people," said Vas.
