Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday declared that the new Community Health Centre has been upgraded into a Sub District Hospital.
This is the second Sub District Hospital to be opened in South Goa after the Sub District Hospital at Ponda.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the newly built 82-bedded hospital, Sawant, however, appealed to people to give the government a few days to complete procedural formalities for the upgradation of the Curchorem Health Centre to the Sub District Hospital.
He said that all the desired healthcare and infrastructural facilities would be made available in the next few days in consultation with the medical team and FDA.
He also assured the people from Curchorem that all pending development works proposed by Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, which includes a new KTC bus stand, library, handloom centre and a swimming pool would be undertaken soon and will be completed in the next three years.
“The party has not forgotten the sacrifices made by Cabral by rendering his resignation as minister when the party needed it the most. The sacrifices made by Cabral will be duly rewarded and he did not worry about any development works in Curchorem constituency,” Sawant assured the people of Curchorem constituency.
The chief minister also added that if any doctors from the area would like to provide honorary services at the newly opened Sub District Hospital, their services would be much appreciated and he assured to make necessary arrangements at the hospital building.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane while addressing the gathering at the inaugural function assured the people that all facilities and high-end medical care would be available at the newly declared Sub District Hospital.
“People from Curchorem, Sanguem, Quepem and Darbandora talukas will be able to get all medical care facilities at one place without the need to visit the District Hospital or GMC Bambolim for minor ailments,” said Rane.
Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral also spoke on the ocassion and thanked the government for the upgradation of the Health Centre to Sub District Hospital.
The new ground-plus-one building, which is constructed by Goa Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (GSIDC), has a facility for 82 beds. The ground floor will have an emergency ward, admission centre and operation theatre along with gynaecology ward with a delivery room and male and female wards.
The first floor will have all consulting rooms or OPDs, including and Ayurvedic and Homeopathic OPD. The new building is also equipped with a mortuary and a pharmacy that would operate round the clock.
