CANACONA
A new dialysis unit was inaugurated at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Chaudi-Canacona on Wednesday.
The dialysis unit operated by Apex Kidney Care Dialysis (AKCD) was inaugurated by Canacona CHC Health Officer Dr Jose Tavares in the presence of AKCD Incharge Dr Vaishali Bichu of Mumbai.
“The dialysis unit has 12 beds and three patients have already undertaken dialysis on Wednesday,” said Dr Tavares.
Nephrologist Dr Shital Hedge, RMO Dr Arti Salgaonkar, AKCD Executive Officer Ganasham Parab, Senior Dialysis Technician Santosh Tawde besides the staff were also present.
Dr Tavares has appealed to all patients in Canacona in need of dialysis to avail of the facilities from the Apex Kidney Care Dialysis unit at CHC Canacona.
Incidentally, one Dr Venkatesh Reddy had been operating the Dialysis Unit at the Canacona CHC and South District Hospital (Hospicio Hospital), Margao, since 2005. However, that unit at the Canacona CHC discontinued operations, but the CHC continued to provide dialysis services to patients.
According to sources, AKCD has also been providing dialysis services at the South Goa District Hospital and the government hospitals in Dharbondara and Bicholim.
