PERNEM

Beaches in Pernem are flooded with domestic tourists to welcome the New Year, even as many of the hotels, cottages and rooms on the coast are

experiencing full occupancy.

According to Tourism Minister Babu

Ajgaonkar, due to international recession inflow of foreign tourists to Goa this year is 38% less. However, the same has been made up by domestic tourists, he added.

On the eve of New Year, dance parties are being organised on all beaches of Pernem and the authorities have warned the organisers to abide by sound pollution norms. As per information, entry fee to these night parties ranges from Rs 300 to 3000. There are at least 12 grand parties being organised at Morjim, Ashvem-Mandrem, Harmal and Keri. Lack of facilities such as changing room, toilets and parking site is the worrisome factor for the authorities.

The tourism department has failed to provide these basic facilities to

the tourists.
