Newly posted Council's CO clears 200 files in a day

It helped MMC enrich coffers by Rs 14 lakh

Newly posted Council's CO clears 200 files in a day Files pending in the Chamber of the Margao Municipal Chief officer.

MARGAO

Strange it may seem, but true that newly-posted Chief officer of Margao Municipal Council, Ajit Panchwadkar went on a file clearing spree, clearing as many as 200 files on a single day on Wednesday last.

In the bargain, the Municipality has enriched its coffers by around Rs 14 lakh on a single day.

The Chief Officer cleared the files after MMC Chairperson Damu Shirodkar took a review of the pendency of official files with Panchwadkar.

During the review by the Chairperson and Chief Officer, it came to light that hundreds of files have been pending in the chamber of the Chief Officer for quite some time, putting the citizens to great hardships.

After the pendency came to light, Chairperson Damu pointed out that he requested the Chief Officer to clear the backlog and mete out justice to the citizens awaiting clearance of their files.

“Do not ask me why hundreds of official files have been pending in the chamber of the Chief officer. This question should be asked to the outgoing Chief Officer”,  Shirodkar said.

The Margao Civic Chief has made a fervent plea to the citizens to call on Chief Officer Panchwadkar on Monday if their files are still pending in the Margao Municipality.

CO Panchwadkar informed that he has been clearing the backlog of files since he was posted at the Margao Municipality around a fortnight ago.

“Since assuming office, i am on the job to clear the legacy files”, he said. He added: “I will be available in my chamber of Monday. If any citizen has any grievances over their files, they can call on me for redressal”.
