The Margao Police has arrested a native of Sawantwadi-Maharashtra for the offense of attempt to commit murder of a resident of Mandopa-Navelim with a knife.
The police has arrested the accused Shivaji Chawan, 18 years, and has been remanded to five days police custody. The injured is convalescing at the Goa Medical college and hospital, Bambolim with bleeding injuries.
Margao Police informed that the accused person, out of sudden provocation, assaulted the complainant Aman Shaikh with knife in his stomach, causing bleeding injuries, thereby attempting to commit his murder over the issue of money matter.
Meanwhile, the Colva police has registered an offense against unknown persons for assaulting the supervisors of the contractor executing work on the western bypass at Seraulim and lifting away 10 shuttering plates and reinforcement steel worth Rs one lakh.
The incident occurred when the assailants, who came in two cars, criminally trespassed into the construction site of the western bypass and assaulted the supervisors Prakash and Mithilesh and further committed the theft of 10 shuttering plates and the reinforcement steel.
The Colva police is investigating.
