Presiding officer Deepali Naik declared Tito elected unopposed at a meeting of the council held on Tuesday morning. rSoon after his election, Tito said the main priority is to put the administration in place with the help of Chairperson Babita Prabhudesai. “The Chairperson has been trying her best to tone up the administration. We will all give her a helping hand in her endeavour,” he said. rTito thanked TCP Minister, Vijai Sardesai for recommending his name for the post. “I thank the Minister for recommending my candidature and placed his trust in me that I would do something for the betterment of the city,” Tito said. rIn her brief address at the meeting, Chairperson Babita Angle Prabhudesai virtually thanked the city fathers for electing Tito Cardozo unopposed, hoping that this friendly environment will continue to prevail in the civic body for the betterment of the city. rTwo-time BJP-backed senior councilor Rupesh Mahame exuded confidence that Tito will lend his helping hand to solve the issues facing the city. “Everyone wants a corruption-less municipality and we should all work towards achieving that objective”, he said, reminding that Tito hails from a family, and whose father Luis Alex Cardozo was a former MMC Councilor before rising to become the three-time MLA of Fatorda rconstituency.
