Savera, a Vasco-based NGO filed a complaint before the Women’s police station on Wednesday accusing TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai of having allegedly used derogatory words with vulgar gesticulations at a fisher-woman.
The complaint refers to a video circulation on social media platforms in which Sardesai got into heated arguments with an unidentified fisher-woman while explaining plans for a new retail fish market in Margao.
The Goa Forward Party, meanwhile claims that the video has been “doctored” and has also filed a complaint in this regard with the Goa Police’s Cyber Crime Cell. GFP vice president Durgadas Kamat has filed the complaint.
Sardesai meanwhile has also himself refuted the allegation. In a statement he released later, Sardesai said: “I’m utterly shocked and appalled by the deliberate and malicious interpretation of a conversation that I had while reviewing the progress of the SGPDA fish market.”
Kamat in his complaint to the Cyber Crime Cell has alleged that the video was shot and circulated just to defame the minister and stop him from undertaking development work.
