Accusing former chief minister Pratapsing Rane of making derogatory comments regarding Goan youth working abroad, the NGO ‘Savera’ said such statements by the senior-most legislator was unexpected and had insulting the hard-working youth.

“No one has given the right to any legislator to lower the dignity of Goan youth and shame them with such shabby remarks. Most youth had gone abroad as the government had failed to provide them employment and business opportunities,” said Savera Convenor Tara Kerkar.

“Several Goan working abroad have gain reputation and some Goans were even on senior positions ay many multinational companies.”

“Legislators should not play with the sentiments of the youth and they should remember that they are living and enjoying perks at the cost of hard-working tax payers. Some families in Goa are solely dependent on income from youth working abroad,” Kerkar added.
