Saying that NGOs have been obstructing the government in implementing developmental projects, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday invited the representatives of all NGOs to place their views on issues through the social media, print and electronic media to facilitate the government to take decisions on projects.
Addressing the participants of the Lions Region (VIII) Meeting 2020-21 on the theme “Harmony in Service” at the International Association of Lions Clubs held at Navelim on Saturday, the Chief Minister batted for the Tamnar Power Transmission line project saying the project is intended to take care of the state’s future power requirements.
“It is the right of the opposition parties to oppose the government, but I am talking about NGOs. When we work in the society, they need to think. Instead of obstructing the government in the development projects, they should place their views at an open platform in the interest of the state. We expect you to place your views via the media, including the social media so that government will be able to take decisions and take the development forward,” he said.
Touching on the Tamnar project, the CM said the project is required not only to provide 24x7 power supply to not only keep the air-conditioners working, but make available power as a basic necessity to the common man.
The CM took the platform to make an appeal to the people to join hands with the government to take various schemes to the last person in society. “Lions Club and other clubs should join hands with the government to take various schemes to make Swayampurna Goem by December 19, 2021”, he said, adding that it is not possible for the government to reach out to the last person in society.”
