Pernem police arrested a Nigerian national on charges of possessing drugs at Dhargal on Tuesday.
According to police reports, a Pernem police team on patrolling duty received information that a Nigerian national, identified as Ugochukwu Solomon Ubabuko (43), was to deliver narcotic substance to a prospective customer at Mahakhajan-Dhargal.
Accordingly, a police team went to the site but on noticing the team, the Nigerian tried to flee from the spot, but was nabbed by the police.
During a search, Ubabuko was found in possession with narcotic substances i.e Ecstasy 3 grams and Ganja of 61 grams in the dickey of the scooter. The scooter along with the narcotic substance all worth Rs 1.2 lakh was attached and taken into custody.
Police said the accused was earlier arrested for processing of narcotic substance and overstay in India by ANC police station in 2024, Calangute Police station in 2009 and 2012, Crime Branch in 2024, Anjuna Police station in August 2025, Hyderabad City Police station in 2016 and Bangalore City Police station in 2015.
Further investigation is in progress by PSI Pravin Simepurushkar of Pernem police under the Supervision of Pernem PI Sachin Lokre.
