The government is all set to develop nine jetties in the State for tourism purposes with the assistance from the central government under the Sagarmala Project.
The Captain of Ports (CoP) has invited bids for a Project Management Consultant to carry out tender, monitor and completion of the project of the nine jetties under the Sagarmala project.
The modernisation work is approximately Rs 100 crore and 50% of funding will come from the central government.
The jetties which are going to be developed are in Aldona, Ribandar, Old Goa, Pilgao, Banastarim, Durbhat, Rassaim, Shiroda and Sanvordem.
"We have floated the tender to appoint a project management consultant for construction under Sagarmala, where by 50 percent funding is given by the Centre and 50 percent is by the State. For this reason, we are appointing a Project Management Consultant,” said Captain of Ports Capt. James Braganza.
The selection of consultant is expected to be completed by September end.
The project involves development of the jetties and construction of the Terminal Building. There will be facilities like ticketing counter, electrical room, emergency egress gates, underground tanks for water storage and supply, vehicle parking, power supply, toilets with soak pits and septic tanks, underground fuel tanks, bilge and contaminated ballast collection at two locations.
Besides, a restaurant is proposed at Banastarim.
The Centre had declared the Mandovi, Chapora, Zuari, Sal, Cumbharjua and Mapusa rivers as National Waterways in 2016. The reconstruction of jetties is being done along 3 rivers, river Mandovi (Ribandar, Old Goa, Pilgao, Banastarim), Mapusa (Aldona) and Zuari River (Rassaim, Durbhat, Shiroda and Sanvordem).
