Sharan Meti’s brother, Siddhana, had announced a panel of candidates from various villages in Goa to contest the upcoming panchayat elections.
"We are born and bought up in Goa and we have been here since four generations. I feel we are more Goans than Kannadigas and have the love for our land and there is no issue in contesting elections.
“It is a fundamental right of a person to contest anywhere and we have seen that many Goans who have migrated to London for better prospects have even elected a person from Vasco as councillor of Swindon. If a Goan youth can be elected as councillor in Swindon, why can't we Kannadigas contest and get elected in Goa," asked Meti.
Meti said he would contest the upcoming elections from Sancoale Panchayat.
“I have good support in my ward and people want me to contest. In fact, the villagers who have requested me to contest are Goans as well and not only Kannadigas," added Meti.
