The South Western Railways (SWR) has decided to run special express trains from Vasco on Konkan Railway and Southern Railway routes to clear extra rush of passengers during feast of Our Lady of Good Health at Vailankanni.
According to P C Chacko, the station manager of Vasco Railway Station, two trains have been notified and these special trains will leave from Vasco on August 27 and September 3 at 11.20 am. The trains are expected to reach Vailankanni on the next day at 1 pm.
These trains will leave Vailankanni at 8.15 pm the next day (on August 28 and September 4), and will arrive at Vasco Railway Station at 9.15 pm the following day. The SWR has also proposed to run a third trip on September 6, which will be notified shortly.
About 80,000 pilgrims from Maharashtra and Goa visit the holy shrine during the feast, which is celebrated on September 8.
