The MG Party on Sunday unanimously resolved to grant extension of two years till December 31, 2019, to the existing Central Committee and also decided to form a committee of 40 members in each of the 40 constituencies in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar appealed to the ‘Karyakartas' to forget their personal differences and work unitedly to strengthen the party.
"If party wants to increase the strength of its MLAs in the assembly, party cannot afford to neglect the Catholic community. ‘Karyakartas' should ensure that all segments of society joins the party. To ensure that the party gets maximum number of seats in the 2019 assembly election, it is necessary that the base of the party in all the 40 constituencies is fortified," said Minister Dhavalikar.
The resolution, which was adopted in the annual general body meeting of the party at Maratha Bhavan, Porvorim, was moved by MG Party President Deepak Dhavalikar and approved by the Karyakartas who attended the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Deepak Dhavlikar stated that the Central Committee has decided to form a committee of 40 members in each of the 40 constituencies and these committees in turn will form its booth committees.
"The Central Committee has also decided to form Mahila wing and also youth wing to strengthen the party. This process will start by mid-February 2018 and will be completed within next 8 to 10 months," said Dhavalikar.
Speaking further, he said as per the election rules in force, the party was required to get at least three candidates elected and also secure 10 per cent of the total votes polled to retain the election symbol of ‘Lion'.
"It was for this reason the party had joined hands with BJP in the year 2012. However, MG Party fought the 2017 election on its own and secured 13 per cent of the total votes polled, which indicates that the people have trust in the party. Now, time has come to strengthen the party further and get prepared for the next assembly election," stated said Deepak Dhavalikar.
Sanvordem MLA Deepak Pawaskar also spoke at the meeting and sought the help of the Central Committee to solve the issue of truck owners operating in the mining areas. Earlier, Ravindra Mardolkar welcomed the gathering. The dignitaries lit the traditional lamp. Narayan Sawant compered the programme and also proposed the vote of thanks.
