Goa is expected to witness another week of weak monsoon conditions, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa forecasting only light to moderate rainfall till July 21 and issuing no weather warning for the State.
As per IMD's latest bulletin, light to moderate rain is very likely till July 21. IMD Goa Scientist Nahush Kulkarni said rainfall is likely to resume from July 20.
Over the next 48 hours, light showers are expected mainly during the evening, while daytime temperatures are likely to remain around 33°C and night temperatures around 27°C.
The State recorded a mere 1.1 mm of rainfall on Wednesday, while the overall deficit extended to 36 per cent.
Adding to the discomfort, temperatures continued to stay well above normal. Maximum temperatures hovered between 32.8°C and 33.2°C -- more than 3°C above the seasonal average, while the 'feels like' temperature soared to 38.5°C due to high humidity.
Minimum temperatures were also higher than normal, recording departures of 1.8°C to 2.7°C. The temperature rise, Kulkarni said, has been owing to a temporary block in rainfall activity.
