NOC for constructions questioned

Locals questioned wanton permissions to constructions in forested land in Siolim-Marna area.



MAPUSA: 
Citing a specific case, Fatima Fernandes said in Modlo Waddo, in a no development zone the panchayat has issued permissions to a party for cutting of trees for development of road.   
She said she had written to the forest department and the work was stopped for some time. But the work restarted after elections, she added.   
She further said she had written to various authorities to conduct a survey of the area since it’s a forested land but 
her requests have fallen on deaf ears.   
“The panchayat has been taking advantage of the dichotomy in the Regional Plan and issuing licences for construction in the area,” Fernandes said.

Locals demand police patrolling, illumination of open ground

Expressing concern over the recent murder of a woman whose charred remains were found on the open ground at Bamon Waddo, Siolim, the villagers at the Siolim-Marna gram sabha on Sunday demanded proper illumination and police patrolling in the area.
