Raising the issue of the gruesome murder, members of the gram sabha said some people were taking advantage of darkness to engage in anti-social activity in the area.
Requesting immediate police patrolling in the area, the locals have also demanded that the area should be adequately illuminated.
Sarpanch, Alba Sequeira informed the gram sabha she will talk to the local MLA and Water Resources Minister, Vinod Palyekar about the illumination of the area.
She also said she spoke to North Goa Superintendent of Police, Karthik Kashyap on the need of police patrolling in the area.
Another gram sabha member said the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Siolim does not have a public toilet at the centre and people who visit the PHC very often have to use toilets from the patients’ wards.
He urged the panchayat to make a provision of building a toilet for public at the PHC.
The sarpanch has promised to get in touch with the authorities and plan to build a toilet in the PHC under the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan programme.
The road connecting Marna to Sodiem at Fernandes Waddo has become victim to poor road engineering, resulting in salt water entering the field and rendering it uncultivable.
Locals have demanded a joint meeting between the farmers, agriculture and water resource departments to find a solution of flooding and to prevent salt water entering into the fields.
The sarpanch promised to write to the departments concerned on the issue.
