The Rumdamol gram sabha on Sunday has given its nod for the underground cabling project in the village.
At the gram sabha meeting chaired by Sarpanch Saimulla Fanibandh, members discussed the proposal received from Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro seeking no objection from the panchayat and gram sabha before taking up the project.
The gram sabha welcomed the project, saying the underground cabling project was long overdue.
The Sarpanch later told the media that the issue was placed before the gram sabha to give the nod for the government to take up the project. “The MLA had sought the permission from the panchayat so that work on the project goes on unhindered as it involved road cutting,” he said.
Meanwhile, the contentious issue of erection of arch on the village roads figured at the gram sabha when members sought to know whether the panchayat had issued permission for it.
The Sarpanch replied saying the arch has been erected without the panchayat permission. He said the local body has already issued a notice to the party to remove the structure.
The sarpanch further pointed out that the panchayat would issue a second notice to the party to dismantle the arch before action is initiated.
