Preparations for the 2027 Goa Legislative Assembly elections have begun in North Goa, with the First Level Checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) scheduled to be carried out from August 3 to August 14, 2026.


The schedule was announced during a review meeting chaired by North Goa Collector and District Election Officer Ankit Yadav, IAS, to assess the district's preparedness for the forthcoming Assembly elections.


During the meeting, Yadav directed the concerned nodal officers to ensure that all logistical, security and administrative arrangements are completed well in advance. He also reviewed the preparation of the District Election Management Plan (DEMP) and instructed officials to finalise the plan within the stipulated timeline.


The meeting reviewed preparations for training polling personnel, procurement and distribution of election materials, observer coordination, transport management, communication planning, postal ballot management, election expenditure monitoring, strong room security, counting arrangements, medical facilities and voter awareness programmes under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative.


Officials were directed to complete all preparatory activities within the prescribed timelines and ensure seamless coordination among all departments and stakeholders.


The meeting was attended by Additional Collector-I Gurudas Dessai, Additional Collector-II Pravin Hire Parab, Deputy Collector (Elections) Safal Shetye, along with designated nodal officers handling key election-related responsibilities, including law and order, EVM management, manpower, training, material management, SVEEP, Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), IT applications, postal ballots, election expenditure monitoring, strong room and counting arrangements, medical facilities, accessible elections, transport management and communication planning.


All nodal officers were briefed on their respective responsibilities and directed to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
