“Had come to submit documents”: Amit Patkar on visit to Congress house THE GOAN NETWORK

PANAJI

Former Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Amit Patkar on Wednesday visited Congress House in Panaji after a long gap since stepping down as party chief, clarifying that his visit was only to submit official party documents from his tenure as president.

Speaking to the media, Patkar said a few Congress-related documents were yet to be handed over. “There were a few documents that were left to be submitted to the party since the president was not there. I came now because I was also not available,” Patkar said.

He denied holding any meeting with party leaders during his visit. When asked whether the Congress leadership was considering assigning him a major responsibility, Patkar said the decision rested entirely with the party. “It is up to the party to decide,” he said.

Meanwhile, Goa Congress desk in-charge Manikrao Thakare dismissed speculation of differences with Patkar, asserting that the former GPCC president continues to remain with the Congress. “There is no conflict between us. Amit Patkar is our leader and is welcome to meet me anytime. There is no reason to read anything into the meeting,” Thakare said, putting to rest rumours of a rift within the party.
