The District Magistrate of North Goa has issued new directions asking for strict verification of all tenants, visitors and guests staying in residential and commercial places in the district.
Under the order, owners of houses, buildings, flats, hotels, lodges, shacks, private guest houses, paying-guest facilities and religious institutions must check the identity of every person before allowing them to stay.
They must verify the person’s details using valid identity proof such as an Election Card, Driving Licence, Aadhaar Card or Passport.
Owners must also fill in the tenant, visitor or guest verification form before the person is permitted to stay on the premises in North Goa.
These forms must then be submitted to the local police station for further verification and record.
In a separate order, the District Magistrate has imposed prohibitory orders in view of the Goa Legislative Assembly session scheduled from January 12 to January 16.
