Insisting that he is not a defector or dissident of any party, former minister Isidore Fernandes also clarified that he had joined the Goa Forward Party (GFP) not for the party ticket for the 2027 assembly polls but to work for the party as a loyal solder.

“I am not a defector or a dissident as I had contested the last assembly as an independent candidate,” insisted Isidore, when asked to comment on objections from alliance parties, especially the Congress, over his induction into the GFP.

“I am not interested in politics being generated by Congress leaders over my joining the GFP. My decision to join the GFP has been solely to defeat BJP and ensure victory for the opposition alliance candidate. My one-point agenda for joining the GFP is to work for the success of our party’s ZP (Poinguinim) candidate Prashant Naik.”

Asked if he would be aspiring for the GFP ticket to contest the assembly elections in 2027, Isidore replied in the negative.

“At this point in time, I have no aspirations to demand a GFP ticket to contest the 2027 assembly elections. That is for the party to decide at an appropriate time, but was never my condition to join GFP. I personally feel the GFP is the only party which can protect the interests of Goa and Goenkars,” said Isidore.

“I have joined the GFP and will work obediently for its success. Let the party and its committee sit and decide when the question comes to give a ticket in the assembly election.”
