PANAJI: Services of the Goa Employment Exchange have been switched to online mode exclusively since Thursday last and the State government has set February 28 as the deadline for registrants existing on its live job register to convert their employment registration cards to ones generated by the online portal www.goa-online.gov.in.
A notification issued by Under Secretary (Labour) A S Mahatme said, existing valid employment cards will remain in force only until Februay 28 and all manual services have been discontinued with immediate effect since Thursday last week. Existing data of the Employment Exchange have also been migrated to the portal but individual registrants need to activate it with their valid employment card number.
Mahatme also said in the notification that the Adhaar Card number will be mandatory, to avoid duplicity and to maintain authenticity of data.
"Henceforth, the employment card generated through the online portal will be treated as jobseekers/employment registration card, which is compulsory for employment in government and semi-government organisations as well as municipal corporation, municipalities, panchayats and government boards," the notification adds.
The digitisation of employment exchanges is a national programme of the Central government. The portal was launched in Goa in July last year by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Labour Minister Rohan Khaunte at the State Secretariat.
Parrikar, during the launch had claimed that one of the reasons for the digitisation of the records, data and services of the employment exchange was to create an accessible platform for both job seekers and givers, including employers in the private sector.
It will also act as a data source for the government and policy framers to accurately estimate the employment scenario and accordingly plan strategies, Parrikar had said.
Khaunte, meanwhile, had said that the Employment Exchange portal will be a common platform for job seekers, government departments and also employers in private sector, skill providers, placement agencies, local service providers and counselors.
