Hailing Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar's decision to remove the Dhavalikar brothers as ministers, local BJP leaders from Ponda now want MGP General Secretary and Ponda MLA Lavu Mamledar to quit from his government posts.

Addressing a news conference in Ponda on Tuesday, Ponda BJP Block President and Ponda Councillor Vishwanath Dalvi challenged Mamledar to contest the assembly election from Ponda and get re-elected.

“Mamledar has failed as MLA and did not care for our supporters. Mamledar stays in Porvorim and he should leave politics of Ponda,” Dalvi said.

Ponda Councillor Sunil Desai alleged that Mamledar had been forcing their supporters to join MGP whenever they went to him for any work.

“Mamledar should resign as chairman of Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir and chairman of Goa Handicrafts Rural and Small Scale Industries Development Corporation or else, he will meet with the same fate as that of the Dhavalikar brothers,” Desai said.

Desai also stated that the BJP would contest from Ponda constituency in the next elections.

Curti-Khandepar Panch Sandeep Khandeparkar, former block president Shantaram Kolvekar, Yeshwant Khedekar, Sumita Bhandari and Digamber Jalmi were present at the news conference.
