The State Health Minister on Wednesday disclosed that the Health Department which he heads is in the process of finalizing the guidelines for the hospitality industry in Goa whereby it will be a mandatory requirement for all hotels in Goa to identify separate isolation rooms for the guests who test positive for Covid-19. The guest will, however, have to pay the due rent for these rooms in order to isolate themselves at the hotel.
Speaking to the media, the Health Minister stated, “We are also bringing new SOPs that every hotel will have to have isolation rooms to handle isolation if some of their guests test positive for Covid-19. Let the guest pay and isolate in the hotel itself. They must. The SOPs and guidelines are in the process of finalization.”
The Health Minister dismissed the suggestion to renew testing and screening for Covid-19 of the incoming tourists at Goa’s border check posts. “Border testing is not feasible. You have to know what strategy you want to use and stick to it. Our testing had dropped slightly. We are trying to keep it as high as 2,000 tests a day,” he said, disclosing that the Health Department is putting in efforts to maintain high levels of daily testing in the state.
